The July 2020 issue of Ingram's Magazine featured Kansas City's top 100 fastest growing companies, based on 2016-2019 revenue. We are honored to share that our team, our company, was listed in the 87th spot. That could not have been accomplished without our customer's faith in our ability to complete their projects. We probably sound like a broken record, repeating how our success is owed to our customers; but we believe it and feel it from the bottom of our hearts. We aren't the biggest, shiniest, or loudest general contractor out there, but our customers and their word of mouth referrals have put us on that list of fastest growing companies and we thank each and every customer we've had.
Ingram's was kind enough to write a blurb about our company for the magazine, which is below in a poorly taken photograph (we build things, we aren't photographers). In case you can not read it I will type what they wrote below the photo.
"The standing joke in construction is that you can have a project fast, cheap or good - pick any two. At KC Constructors, the menu reads: Reliable. Responsible. Reasonable. And you don't have to pick two, the company promises to deliver on all three. Based in Lee's Summit, the general contractor specializes in clinic-type settings for medical and dental practices, ranging from minor tenant improvement to full-building projects in the $2 million range."
Beyond our thanks to our customers, I'd like to stress how proud we are to have retained 4 of the 6 employees we had in 2016. Retention in the construction industry is a notorious problem, especially for smaller companies that may not be able to provide many of the perks bigger companies can. Since 2016, we've grown from 6 team members to 8, with (room for expansion!!) We have had the opportunity to take on an intern for 3 seasonal sessions, who is currently in school for Construction Management at Missouri State (Go Ice Bears!) We moved into our own building, after outgrowing the rented space we had occupied since 2011. We have even grown in the number of licensed contractors on-board and owner count, when I (Sarah) became a class A general contractor in December of 2018 and followed that by becoming an owner, along with Tom, in September of 2019.
That was a lot of boasting... This is me signing off, having broken our habit of being low-key and humble. Don't worry, I will go back to our regularly scheduled event right after this important message.
